A Bit About Us…

The Prairie Echoes are the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Small Chorus Champions of the Lake Michigan Region. We also placed 4th overall at this same contest held in April. We were the 2003 Chorus Champions of the Lake Michigan Region and this gave us the opportunity to compete in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Sweet Adelines International Competition 2004. The Prairie Echoes also won the International Small Chorus Championships in 2002 and 2000 and were 3rd place in 2008.

Our mission is to provide a unique musical experience for our members and our audiences based on a commitment to musical excellence and artistic interpretation of four-part a capella harmony.

The Prairie Echoes Chorus was founded in August 1983 and was chartered in October 1985, and we celebrated our 20th year anniversary with a show in October, 2005. Sweet Adelines International is composed of 30,000 members from sixteen countries around the world. We are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

Our membership includes women from DeKalb, Sycamore, Genoa, Maple Park, Carol Stream, Elburn, Sandwich, Cortland, Rockford, Elgin, Huntley, Kirkland, Rochelle, Aurora, Lyndon, Sterling, Crystal Lake and Waterman, Illinois. The Prairie Echoes is a small chorus that enjoys friendship and singing!
